Gas regulator: All kind of gases)Pressure regulators are employed to reduce the pressure of the fluid/gas from a high level to a constant, lower withdrawal pressure.The primary function of a regulator is to convert high pressure of gases in cylinder or process to desired lower working pressure range, maintaining reasonably constant working pressure for most of the cylinder volume. The regulator maintains constant working pressure on the outlet of a regulator in spite of variation in inlet pressure&hence there is no need for manual adjustment. The regulator offers safer, low working pressures, control the pressure but does not control flow. Where flow control is critical, it is necessary to use a valve or other flow control&measurement devices along with the regulator.Thus gas regulator is not only a safety device but useful tool also.Most regulators are fitted with two gauges to monitor pressures,(regulatorsfor liquefied gases may not have a cylinder pressure gauge, because the pressure of lpg varies only with temperature as long as only liquid is present in the cylinder). The inlet or high gauge is situated on the right&is for monitoring the upstream pressure of cylinder pressure. The delivery pressure gauge on the left is for monitoring&setting the discharge or delivery pressure desired. Delivery pressure is set with an adjusting screw(key)by varying spring compression on a diaphragm. There are two types of regulators:Single stage regulator(diaphragmtype/piston type):The pressure regulation from the cylinder/process pressure to delivery/working pressure is done in one stage.Double stage regulator(diaphragmtype/piston type)This regulator reduces high pressure in two steps, resulting in a more constant delivery pressure, right down to cylinder exhaustion.
