Dissolved air flotation system (DAF) is an effective device that removes suspended solids and oil & grease from industrial wastewater. Features: Low retention time. High removal efficiency. Operation and Maintainence: Microscopic air bubbles attach themselves to the suspended particles, which give them positive buoyancy. These buoyant clusters of particles and bubbles rise quickly to the surface forming a float that is removed by skimming. Pressure System: The air bubbles are achieved by pressurizing a portion of the clean effluent and recycling it back into the influent. As the supersaturated recycle is released into the unit, the air comes out of solution forming microscopic bubbles and mixes with the influent. Dosing System: The effluent quality of a DAF is improved by pre-chemical treatment. The first step is neutralization of charge of the particles and adds aluminum or iron compounds. This is called coagulation. The second step is forming larger clusters of floc by adding polymer. This is called flocculation. Applications: Food processing. Canning plants. Poultry processing.
