1.MARK II CLARIFLOW solids contact clarifiers are conventional clarifiers employing internal slurry recirculation and positive slurry removal. In the Mark II, previously formed floc particles are recycled by an internal pump and mixed with the raw water in a central ClariFlow inlet. The ClariFlow is a controlled energy inlet which blends the flow streams and sets up the energy required to produce the gentle turbulence and rotation necessary for flocculation within the floc skirt. Due to the conical shape of the floc skirt, this energy decreases with increasing depth permitting floc growth and settling beyond the skirt. Scraper arms provide positive slurry removal and multiple, radial weir troughs provide the required weir rates. Mark II ClariFlow units are available in both bridge and pier-supported designs. 2.HC AND MC CLARIFLOW solids contact clarifiers are similar to the Mark II design but are applied for more difficult softening or turbidity removal applications. In the HC, a large ClariFlow well replaces the flume, which permits a much greater detention time in the well or mixing zone to promote early coagulation and good chemical efficiency by thorough blending of the raw water and slurry. MC units do not require external slurry recirculation.HC ClariFlows are also available in both bridge or pier-supported designs while MC Clariflows are pier supported.
