1) Vincristine sulphate:Standard: BP 2004, USP 28, CP 2005, EP 5.0Action and indications:Vincristine sulfate is an alkaloid extracted from vinca rosea. As a cell cycle specific drug, it can inhibit growth of neoplasm and formation of proliferating cell spindle, as a result, mitosis is stopped at its metaphase. Clinically, it is similar to vinblastine sulfate with better effects, however, no cross toleranceis found between the two drugs. It is more effective in the treatment of various acute leukemia, especially acute lymphoblastic leukemia. It is the drug of choice for the treatment of small cell lung cancer and advanced breast carcinoma.
