GRCC C Compiler for PIC


The GRC C Compiler has been developed using the ANSI C language specification as described in the Kernighan-Ritchie ANSI C book, as it applies to microcontrollers. The compiler produces 3 files. Files with the .hex extension are used with your pic programmer to download the compiled code into the Pic Microcontroller. This .hex file complies with the Intel Hex format used in most eprom programmers. Files with the .asm extension contain an assembly code listing of the compiled program along with memory mapping information. This file is useful in debugging your program and determining execution cycles of your code. The .pre files contain the preprocessed version of your program, #defines, #includes, etc. are expanded by the preprocessor and placed into this file. The .pre files can safely be removed.
