Two British person, locally known as TAPPU and TARE sahib started planting tea in 1901, on a land belonging to a man by name, GOPAL & the land compromised of an area containing lush green paddy fields interspersed with numerous natural streams, locally known as DHARAS. This tea area became popular by the name of GOPALDHARA. Thus the very name Gopaldhara Tea Estate represents the harmonious combination of man and nature.
