Membrane of Nylon--Nylon is ideal for filtration of chromatography samples. Membrane of PVDF--PVDF (Polyvinylidene difluoride) is hydrophilic material used for HPLC sample filtration and general biological filtration. This membrane is a low protein binding, solvent resistant membrane. Membrane of PTFE--PTFE (Teflon) can be used to filter solvents and strong acids. Although PTFE is inherently hydrophobic, it can be made hydrophilic by pre-wetting the membrane with methanol and then rinsing with water.
