Voltage Regulator
STB voltage regulators offer superior performance to regulators with an electromechanical or static switching configuration, because they have a voltage stabiliser that is completely in solid-state. Its structure in fact is based around a transformer with one winding in series with the loads and the other winding connected to a high performance DC / AC inverter controlled by a specific electronic circuit. By varying the sinusoid generated in the control winding appropriately it is possible to induce a voltage in the controlled one.The STB devices offer a high level of protection against voltage fluctuations thanks to the high operating dynamicity of the device which allows the voltage value to be compensated to within / -5% of the nominal value in 20 ms and to within / -1% in 100 ms. This level of performance is obtainable thanks to the totally solid-state architecture of the device with IGBTs driven using PWM techniques, enabling it to achieve much higher performance in comparison with standard electromechanical or TRIAC-based systems, despite its much lower weight and dimensions.Other features of STB voltage regulators:1. They are equipped with a control system that operates via a DSP (Digital Signal Processor) . This allows a high computational capacity with regard to the analysis of the operating states of the device.2. They feature a D. P. O. (Delayed Power-On) system, and therefore do not cause any disturbance on the connected power network when they are activated.3. They are fitted with a magnetothermic main switch for switch-on and switch-off.4. They are supplied with a line switch that allows them to be bypassed manually if they fail. If this should happen, the connected loads can therefore be supplied directly from the mains power supply.5.
