The chessboard is square, consisting of 64 smaller squares: eight rows and eightcolumns. The squares are alternatively light and dark colored, with the light onescalled white squares and the dark ones called black squares, and the pieces aremoving in these squares.Totally, there are 32 pieces, which are divided into two groups: black group andwhite group, each consisting of 16 pieces. Each group is moved by two opponents.These pieces are as follows: a king, a queen, two rooks, two bishops, two knightsand eight pawns, with initial positions on chessboard indicated in the left diagram.
