(Carica papaya L.)Papain as an enzyme has ability to catalyze specific chemical reaction as such some technological applications.The usefulness of this enzyme depends on its activity. i.e. its ability to act as catalyst. The higher the specific activity per unit weight of enzyme, more valuable it is. Care is therefore taken to protect the activity.It is available accordingly IP, BPC and USP specifications. It has grades like 100 TU, 200 TU, 300 TU, 500 TU, 1000 TU (TU Stands for Tyrosine Value).
