Rose Petals
Roses have been used throughout history as a love flower. The rose is a perennial shrub found worldwide, in India it, is widely cultivated in kashmir, bihar, uttar pradesh and punjab states. Bulgarian and indian rose have quality fragrance due to its soil temperature and atmosphere. In ayurveda whole plant has been used for medicinal purpose. The flowers are gathered between april and june, then baked before being incorporated into herbal formulas. Although in modern times, roses are admired for their beautiful, fragrant flowers, they have a variety of medicinal and culinary uses as well. Due to the beautiful fragrance, it is mainly used in the perfumes, herbal soap and lotion etc.Medicinally, rose contains a well-known volatile oil, which consists of quercitrin, tannin, and some organic acids. Rose hips are a good source of vitamin c. According to the principles of traditional chinese medicine, rose has sweet, slightly bitter and warm properties, and is associated with the liver and spleen meridians. Its functions are to regulate qi and reduce stagnation, remove blood stagnation, nourish the skin, and improve digestion. Among the conditions rose treats are distended stomach, epigastric pain, pain caused by external injuries, and irregular menstruation. Rose petals are used in commerce. On account of its fragrance, the petals of this variety of rose are much used in France for distillation of rose-water. It is used as a vehicle for other medicines and as an eye lotion. The finest rose-water is obtained by distillation of the fresh rose petals. It should be clear and colourless, and it is used for value medicinal purpose. It is employed medicinally for the preparation of an infusion and a confection. It is used to impart an agreeable flavour and odour to other syrups and mixtures. The syrup is of a fine red colour and has an agreeable, acidulous, somewhat astringent taste. Its petals are excellent in soap and lotion for help in treating eczema. Rose petals have antiseptic, astringent, antibiotic properties can aid in healing acne, reducing its redness and inflammation.
